My heavens, but there are so many steps! I am a three step steak person, myself. First step, buy filet mignon. Second step, determine the heat source for cooking (I live on the east coast, and the weather doesn't always permit grilling- ergo, I favor the top of the stove). Third step, get out the butter and slather on either side of the steak.

I suppose the rest are additional steps, but basically, one simply cooks the bejesus out of it to start, careful not to set the house on fire, or trigger the fire alarm... then turn the heat way the heck down, until the inside is just so. Flavor to taste. Divine.
